Positive: An Exceptional Stay at The Hermitage Jakarta The Hermitage Hotel is without a doubt one of the most distinctive and exceptional hotels I have ever stayed at in Jakarta; and one I fully intend to keep returning to. As a vegan, it is often challenging in Indonesia to find truly good options at buffets or during fixed meal times. However, the kitchen and the entire team at The Hermitage went above and beyond my expectations. Both the breakfast and dinner buffet were included, and upon my request, the staff provided 100% support and care, preparing individual, fully vegan dishes just for me. This level of attention and service was nothing short of incredible. The facilities are excellent: a well-maintained gym with fully functioning equipment, and a swimming pool that is perfect for proper lap swimming. Everything is clearly cared for with great attention to detail. The location is another major highlight. The hotel sits along one of the most beautiful and green walking routes toward Bundaran HI and its surrounding malls. Despite being right in the heart of Jakarta, the area is wonderfully peaceful; it truly feels like being in the countryside while still in the middle of the city. The atmosphere, service, rooms, and the hotel’s nostalgic charm make this a place I will happily become a regular guest. The Hermitage has earned my loyalty. See you again next year!

Negative: Minor point for improvement (written with hesitation, as my overall experience was excellent): With some reluctance, I mention this only because a review requires a “negative” section. As a vegan guest, I truly appreciated the effort and care from the kitchen, and the food itself was delicious. However, the most enjoyable vegan dish was served three days in a row, which felt a little repetitive. During the following two days, I received a salad instead. On the first day it contained mayonnaise, which of course is not vegan. This was immediately and very professionally corrected, with many apologies and a freshly prepared replacement; something I genuinely appreciated. Since the meals were included, my only small remark is that receiving the same dish multiple days in a row felt like a missed opportunity. Especially in Indonesia, a country so rich in colors, aromas, and flavors, I had hoped for more variety and perhaps a few more authentic vegan interpretations. That said, this is merely an observation and not a complaint. With an overall 10/10 experience, I truly cannot complain; I simply hope to see those wonderful Indonesian colors and flavors reflected even more on the plate next time. P.S. (For comparison with my previous stay): During my stay last year in December, dinner was not served as a buffet but as a set menu with choices. At that time, I had a very personal and pleasant conversation with the chef over tea, discussing how my vegan meals could be prepared and adapted. That experience felt very tailored and interactive. This year, the dinner offering was significantly more luxurious overall, with an impressive buffet featuring a wide variety of Indonesian and Western dishes. However, as it was a buffet rather than a choice-based menu, there was less flexibility in selection for vegan guests.
