Summary: The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and well maintained, lush and green. The pool is beautiful and clean. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We booked the family villa as it was advertised to sleep 5 at time of booking (there were 5 of us including 3 teenagers) but when we arrived there was only sleeping space for 4 of us, and it took a while to sort out due to a language barrier. The staff kindly got us an extra single bed to put into one of the rooms. The villa itself was beautiful and quirky with a plunge pool and rice field views as well as a rooftop “treehouse” with hammocks. The villa is quite run down, with peeling paint inside and the locks on the doors are quite fiddly. There seemed to be a big problem with ants in the villa, they got into everything. The bathrooms are open (no ceilings) which meant there was alot of geckos and wildlife coming in at all times. It would have been a better experience if the bathrooms were enclosed. Probably the worst part is that there is a chicken farm directly beside the family villa. The rooster starts crowing at 5am and goes all day. If you’re hoping to sleep in at all, I wouldn’t suggest getting the family villa. It was frustrating. Food menu was ok, not amazing. I think Aksmi would be a nicer experience for single couples, maybe not a family with teenagers. All in all a beautiful place but needs some work here and there.
